1976 Chevrolet C10 Scottsdale/Bonanza longbed, VIN CCL146S166066. A preserved source-gallery photograph of its GM Service Parts Identification label repeats the VIN and legibly lists YG8 Bonanza Package C, Z62 Scottsdale equipment and 26E NDW1 Blue/White Knit, along with LS9 350 and selected equipment. A separate photographed GM certification label repeats the VIN and 03/76 manufacture date. These factory documents support the Bonanza/Scottsdale specification and distinctive trim code. Surviving photographs show Bonanza 10 badging, installed Spirit of ’76 door-panel shields and white door panels/visors, but no large exterior patriotic graphics in the photographed condition. The relationship of all present trim to original installation and the truck’s later paint changes requires separate assessment. The seller’s “#9 of 10” and 500-total claims are unverified and must not be treated as production records. The seller’s claimed $30,000–$35,000-plus sale concerned another truck and is not a verified transaction for CCL146S166066. Three SMClassicCars listings and a July 2018 Barn Finds article are repeat appearances of this one VIN. Barn Finds’ $15,000 was an asking price; its sold marker does not establish realized amount. No third-party photographs or scans are reproduced here. Evidence status
Verified scope: a photographed factory SPID and GM certification label both carry VIN CCL146S166066. The SPID documents Bonanza Package C and Scottsdale equipment. Spirit-pattern trim is separately photographed. The VIN and these documents do not establish a production count or numbered place in a series.
Factory documents
Archived source-gallery originals inspected September 26, 2026. The SPID reads VIN CCL146S166066, 131.5-inch wheelbase, YG8 Bonanza Package C, Z62 Scottsdale equipment, 26E NDW1 Blue/White Knit, LS9 350 and selected options. A separate GM certification label repeats VIN CCL146S166066 and records 03/76, 6,050-lb GVWR and 3,250-lb front GAWR. The worn rear-GAWR row appears to read 3,580 lb; the earlier 3,560 transcription is withdrawn pending a clearer photograph. Partly degraded rows are not decoded. The scans are not reproduced.
Physical vehicle evidence
Archived listing photographs show Bonanza 10 front-fender badging, white door panels with installed Spirit of ’76 shields, white sun visors, Scottsdale dash trim and blue/gray longbed body. Large exterior Spirit graphics are absent in the photographed condition. Originality of each surviving component and the later center-band paint is not established by appearance alone.
Owner or seller statements
The seller called the truck “#9 of 10” and asserted 500 total Spirit trucks, originality and 76,372 miles. The seller also referred to another truck allegedly selling on eBay for more than $30,000 or $35,000 in different versions of the advertisement; that is an unverified comparable-sale claim, not a transaction established for this VIN. No recovered GM production document supports the claimed production or sequence totals. The seller described repainting the center band gray and repair needs.
Later research
Three SMClassicCars listings (498921, 508449 and 511387) and Barn Finds’ July 2018 article print the same VIN and represent one known truck. The factory 26E NDW1 entry and photographed Spirit door shields support a Spirit-associated interior on this VIN; a separate GM program authorization or production total has not been recovered. Barn Finds’ $15,000 was an asking price, not a documented sale amount.
