Evidence status

Verified exact VIN and selected as-built equipment from a photographed GM loading plate, VIN-matched SPID, fuel-economy label and June 30, 1976 dealer sales contract. The documents do not establish the present originality of components or lifetime mileage.

Factory documents

The GM plate repeats CCS146B167040 and states 5,600-lb GVWR, 3,400-lb front GAWR and 3,750-lb rear GAWR. The VIN-matched SPID lists model CC10703, E62 Stepside pickup box, C60 A/C, G80 locking differential, KC4 engine-oil cooler, M40 automatic, U16 tachometer and YE9 Silverado. A VIN-matched 1976 fuel-economy label identifies a 454 four-barrel V8 and automatic. The June 30 Rosenthal Chevrolet contract repeats the VIN and lists Trailering Special and other equipment; its historical total after tax and fees is $7,585.98. Private purchaser and address fields are omitted.

Physical vehicle evidence

The gallery shows a Stepside box consistent with the SPID E62 entry and the photographed plates and papers. The present condition and originality of the powertrain, paint, trim and other equipment have not been independently established.

Owner or seller statements

The dealer listing calls the truck numbers matching and describes preservation and condition; those remain seller claims. Its 75,874-mile “actual” description lacks a complete mileage chain. The page marks it sold and displays $24,995, an advertised asking figure rather than a verified completed-sale amount. A later undated seller listing preserved by David’s Classic Cars reports purchase from Streetside in 2016, four years of ownership and less than 1,500 miles added. That seller reports replacement of the air-conditioning compressor, both fuel tanks, mufflers and tailpipes, plus installation of a hitch. These are attributed later-history and modification claims, not independently verified ownership or factory evidence. The later 76,000-mile display does not establish lifetime mileage.

Later research

The earlier E63 Fleetside reading was corrected by direct review of the SPID description “Stepside pickup box,” corresponding to E62, and the photographed Stepside bed. The separate April 17, 1976 purchase paper has an illegible serial field and is not an independent VIN control.

Open questions

Confirm present engine and drivetrain originality, paint/trim survival, lifetime mileage, the later sale date and amount, current custody, and any additional factory build sheet or window sticker. The April purchase paper’s serial field remains unreadable.

Vehicle identity and documents

The ClassicCars CC-1531433 gallery photographs a GM loading plate, fuel-economy label, Service Parts Identification plate and Rosenthal Chevrolet sales contract tied to VIN CCS146B167040. The SPID prints model CC10703 and E62 Stepside pickup box, along with C60 air conditioning, G80 locking differential, KC4 engine-oil cooler, M40 automatic, U16 tachometer and YE9 Silverado. The visible Stepside box agrees with the SPID. The fuel-economy label identifies a 454-cubic-inch four-barrel V8 and automatic transmission. The June 30, 1976 dealer contract repeats the VIN and lists the 454, Trailering Special and other equipment. A separate April 17 purchase paper lacks a legible serial field.

Provenance and limits

The dealer contract gives a historical total of $7,585.98 after taxes and fees. The later listing was marked sold with a $24,995 advertised asking price; its actual sale price and date are unknown. The seller calls 75,874 miles actual, but a complete mileage chain has not been recovered. Lutz, Florida was a listing location, not a verified present location. The earlier E63 Fleetside transcription was corrected after review of the original SPID image; its option line reads Stepside pickup box, with code E62.
