Evidence status

Verified for this VIN: factory SPID shows ZE2 Olympic Edition Trim; GM of Canada 1996 VIN-matched vehicle-history record lists ZE2 Olympic Package. Verification is scoped to those documents and their recorded original configuration, not every surviving component.

Factory documents

Photographed SPID repeats TCL1461519708 and lists ZE2, model TC10903, E63, LS9, M40, N67, Z62 and white paint entries. The June 10, 1996 GM of Canada retrospective record repeats this VIN and states Oshawa production January 29, 1976, shipping January 30, paint 12 white, trim 73C red, 350-cu-in engine and ZE2. It is a later official extract, not a period dealer invoice. The transmission entries use different notations: the photographed VIN-matched SPID lists M40 Turbo Hydra-Matic, while page 1 of GM of Canada’s June 10, 1996 vehicle-history record lists M38, described as a three-speed automatic (TH350). Both readings are retained as document-specific evidence. They do not, by themselves, identify or establish the originality of the transmission presently installed.

Physical vehicle evidence

Owner-supplied photographs show a white/red GMC pickup, Olympic bedside graphic, hood ornament and bilingual Olympic windshield label. The photographs do not independently prove original installation, component continuity or present condition.

Owner or seller statements

The 73-87.com archive attributes the photographs and documents to the then-owner. That attribution is provenance of the submission, not proof of current custody or original component condition.

Later research

A January 15, 1976 Pontiac-Buick-GMC dealer letter and accompanying pickup package sheet describe ZE2 availability and package content generally. They contextualize the VIN-specific SPID but do not replace its evidence or document this truck’s retail sale.

Open questions

Current ownership and condition, originality of visible graphics/ornament/interior, total mileage and a VIN-matched period dealer sale document remain unverified. The SPID’s M40 entry and the later GM of Canada record’s M38/TH350 entry remain to be reconciled with VIN-specific original build or invoice documentation, or a directly applicable GM explanation of the document coding. The difference alone does not establish a replacement transmission or prove either document wrong.

This 1976 GMC Sierra Grande pickup is identified by a photographed Service Parts Identification (SPID) label reading TCL1461519708, model TC10903, and ZE2 Olympic Edition Trim. A VIN-matched General Motors of Canada vehicle-history record issued June 10, 1996 independently lists ZE2 Olympic Package, Oshawa production on January 29, 1976, shipment January 30, white paint 12, red trim 73C and a 350-cu-in engine. The 1996 retrospective record is distinct from a period build sheet or dealer invoice.

The SPID also lists E63 Fleetside pickup box, HE3 3.07 rear axle, LS9 350 V8, M40 Turbo Hydra-Matic, N67 rally wheels, Z62 Sierra Grande equipment and white paint codes 12P/12S. Its aged surface makes a few peripheral characters less certain; the original label remains the transcription authority. Owner-supplied photographs show Olympic graphics, a hood ornament and a bilingual windshield label. The photos establish their visible presence at the time photographed, not the originality of each current component.

The archive attributes this material to the then-owner. The current ownership, surviving original components and total mileage are unverified. No private customer details or source images are reproduced here.
