Vehicle identity and factory evidence
A photographed GMC factory truck order/build sheet in ClassicCars listing CC-1685715 prints VIN TCL146A500399 and model TC10703. Readable fields include E63 Fleetside, LS9 350 four-barrel, YE9 Sierra Classic, red trim 731 and dark red paint 71. GMC’s 1976 pickup brochure identifies Wide-Side TC-10703 as the 117.5-inch-wheelbase model with a 78.25-inch interior maximum box length, supporting the original short-box classification. A photographed Complete Auto Transit carrier copy repeats the VIN. Some fields remain obscured; no SPID or readable federal certification label was recovered from this gallery.
Surviving truck and provenance
The red Sierra Classic pickup appears in ClassicCars CC-1685715, later ClassicCars CC-1997463 and Gearhead Classics vehicle 6485; these are one exact-VIN survivor. The earlier listing placed it in Petersburg, Illinois, and later listings in Sherman, Texas. These are historical listing locations, not verified current whereabouts. Later listings conflict on short versus long bed. The factory document supports the original short-box model; present dimensions and any later chassis/body changes have not been independently measured. Advertised 117,000 and later 19,xxx mileage readings do not establish actual lifetime mileage. Advertised prices are asking prices, not confirmed sale results. Repaint and other equipment changes are seller-reported.
