Photographed VIN and conformity label
The installed GM metal identification/rating plate photographed for Jeff Martin Auctioneers lot 207 clearly reads TGL256U512281. A separate photographed white label carries the federal safety-conformity statement and a manufacture-date entry of 04/76. The white label’s VIN reads TGL256U51228 followed by a paint-damaged final character consistent with 1; the complete VIN is established by the clearer metal plate.
Both photographed pieces list GVWR 6,400 lb, front GAWR 3,200 lb and rear GAWR 3,380 lb. The date and conformity statement belong to the white label, not the metal plate. These historical inscriptions do not establish present safe loading capacity or roadworthiness.
Source transcription discrepancy
The auction heading and URL use T6GL256U512281, with an extra 6 after the first T compared with the photographed metal plate. That string is retained as a source transcription discrepancy, not a second vehicle identity.
Auction appearance
Jeff Martin Auctioneers identifies the vehicle as a 1976 GMC Vandura passenger van in its May 24, 2025 auction at Alto, Georgia. The lot page displays SOLD and a $450 current-bid amount. That is auction-reported information, not verification of payment, an all-in price or present custody. The catalog’s seating, transmission, mileage and operating-condition fields remain auction descriptions rather than factory-build evidence.
Evidence limits
The selected photographs belong to one auction source family. No SPID, build sheet or invoice was identified in the 20 exposed first-party still photographs reviewed. A syndicated listing advertises 22 photographs, but that gallery has not been reconciled against the 20 inspected originals; any coverage beyond those originals is unverified. Document authenticity, original paint and trim, as-built powertrain, any conversion-builder identity, lifetime mileage and current ownership or location remain unresolved. No private owner information or source images are reproduced.
