Chevrolet’s Outdoorsman offer paired distinctive paint and striping with a choice of outdoor equipment. The sales material gives us a look at that offer, but it cannot tell us how many trucks were built or authenticate a particular survivor.

The documented offer

Chevrolet's Outdoorsman promotion combined distinctive paint and striping with a choice of hunting, fishing or camping equipment. A photographed sales folder explicitly describes a 1985 offer covering full-size regular-cab Fleetside pickups, S-10 pickups and S-10 Blazers. Merrick Auto Museum identifies its item as an original sales folder; that is the holder's description of the physical object. The printed content is visible in the listing photographs. A separately reproduced Chevrolet advertisement, featuring Dick Butkus, explicitly includes both two- and four-wheel-drive full-size pickups and S-10-family models. Its captions distinguish the full-size C10 from the S-10 Maxi-Cab. The Maxi-Cab shown in this material should therefore not be described as a full-size extended-cab pickup. Appearance and outdoor equipment

The advertisement names four Outdoorsman colors: Forest Green, Gunmetal Gray, Smokey Mountain Blue and Colorado Gold. The folder illustrates different vehicles with different color-and-stripe combinations, but those illustrations alone do not establish that each color was exclusive to the model pictured. Sources: advertisement and folder interior.

Buyers were offered a choice among three outdoor-equipment packages. The advertisement gives each selection a manufacturer's published catalog price of $500, while its fine print leaves truck and package pricing to the individual dealer. That equipment valuation should not be presented as the truck option's price or as a guaranteed discount. Source: advertisement, equipment descriptions and pricing footnote.

What remains unverified

These sources support describing Outdoorsman as a Chevrolet-branded promotional offer. They do not establish a factory RPO, who applied the graphics, an exclusive sales territory or a production quantity. Dealer-controlled pricing does not establish dealer installation. No truck-production total is asserted here.

The reproduced advertisement's original magazine, issue date and page numbers remain unidentified. Its content is useful evidence of the offer, but it cannot yet establish a precise advertising date or nationwide eligibility. The sales folder supplies the 1985 identification; the advertisement is a complementary, presently undated witness.

Source scope

Verified here means directly readable in the photographed or reproduced printed material. Physical provenance, complete ordering rules and production history remain source-limited. The linked photographs and scan are supplied as references, not reproduced as article illustrations.
